Down

If you’re anything like us, you could barely contain your excitement this week. After a long, difficult year, it looks like we’ll be able to start (cautiously) spending time together outdoors. We have plans to get our hair cut, our nails done, go to our favourite restaurant…And, just enjoy being outside! Spring has sprung and that means that it’s officially picnic season. If you’re just shaking out dusty picnic essentials from the cupboard or reassembling patio furniture, here’s how 1001 carpet freshener could help ensure a fab return to the park or beach!

Preparing Patio Furniture for the Season

Patio furniture is made to withstand the elements, but just because they’re left standing after a winter outside doesn’t mean they look inviting. To smarten up the appearance of outdoor furniture, just give them a thorough cleaning! Plastic and metal furniture can be cleaned with mild dish soap and warm water. Use a soft rag on plastic to avoid scuffing, while a brush can be used on metal. If you spot rust, use a brush to clear away oxidation, and consider re-painting to prevent further rusting.

Cushion covers should be removed and washed if possible. If not, you can spot clean like this:

  1. Carefully blot – don’t rub – with a kitchen towel to try and remove as much of the liquid from the surface of the blanket.
  2. Apply 1001 Carpet Stain Remover and wait for a maximum of 5 minutes.
  3. Massage the product into the fruit-stained area.
  4. Remove any excess liquid with a dry cloth
  5. Leave the area to dry.

A quick burst of your favourite 1001 carpet freshener finishes the job! (May we suggest Carpet Fresh Pink Grapefruit and Exotic Flowers as your fruity carpet freshener of choice?)

Picnic Prep with 1001 Carpet Freshener and Spot Cleaner

We are firm fans of picnic blankets that have a plastic backing. (They just hold up so much better against damp grass.) However, that does make them harder to clean. If there are some spills and stains that were missed before you last put your picnic blanket away, here’s how to clean them in a jiffy:

  1. Apply 1001 Carpet Stain Remover and wait for a maximum of 5 minutes.
  2. Massage the product into the fruit-stained area.
  3. Remove any excess liquid with a dry cloth
  4. Leave the area to dry.

Does your picnic blanket smell ‘not so fresh’? Whether from old food stains or storage mustiness, the right carpet freshener can sort it right away.

Just pick up your favourite 1001 Carpet Fresh carpet freshener and follow these instructions:

  1. Shake the can well
  2. Hold it upside down, about 40cm from your carpet, rug, or upholstery.
  3. Press the nozzle and sweep the can from side to side for a thin, even covering of foam.

Finally, ensure that your picnic blanket is completely dry before you fold it back up. That will ensure it stays mould-free and smelling great!
