Hold the Carpet Stain Remover! You Might Be Forgetting the First Step If…

…There Are Solid or Semi-Solid Pieces On the Stain

It’s easy enough to pick up a piece of solid chocolate off the carpet, but what if it has started to melt? Or, what if it’s something that has been squished into the carpet, like cream cheese? To avoid making a bigger mess or getting unsatisfactory results, there’s a critical first step before using your carpet stain cleaner.

  • Scrape up all residue with a blunt knife.

  1. Blot the area with a kitchen towel to absorb any excess liquid.
  2. Apply 1001 Carpet Stain Remover and wait for a maximum of 5 minutes.
  3. Massage the product into the stained area.
  4. Remove excess liquid with a dry cloth.
  5. Leave the area to dry, then vacuum.
  6. Finish off with a spray of your favourite 1001 Carpet Fresh.

…There is Excess Liquid To the Stain

Whether you’ve spilt coffee, tea, juice or wine, you must try to soak up as much of the liquid as possible first. We recommend daubing or blotting with a clean rag or kitchen towel, so as to avoid spreading the stain, then you can grab a carpet stain cleaner.

Here are our full carpet cleaning tips for cleaning up a liquid-y mess:

  • Blot the stain with kitchen towel to absorb any excess liquid.

  1. Apply 1001 Carpet Stain Remover and wait for a maximum of 5 minutes.

  4. Leave the area to dry, then vacuum.
  5. Finally grab your 1001 Carpet Fresh and spray a light mist over the carpet to keep the room smelling fresh for hours.

…If the Mud Hasn’t Dried Yet

When you see a new mess, your first impulse is to clean it up, ASAP. We get it! But there are a few common stains that actually require you to wait, like mud or soil. If you try to clean wet mud, you may end up making more of a mess!

If there are muddy tracks on your carpet thanks to your pets or careless kids, here’s what to do before grabbing your carpet stain cleaner:

  • Allow the mud or soil to dry.

  1. Remove as much as you can by hand.
  2. Vacuum the area thoroughly until all the residue is removed.
  3. Apply 1001 Mousse.
  4. Gently massage into the stained area.
  5. Remove excess liquid with a dry cloth.
