Down

Have you thought about what you’re wearing to your office online Christmas party? What about the video gift exchange with your friends? Our social calendars might not involve fancy parties this year, but our alternatives do require us to be on camera. Sure, you can wear comfy joggers on the bottom, but what better way to get in the festive spirit than getting dressed up for the occasion!

And speaking of make-up, why is it always when we’re in a rush that we seem to spill and drop our cosmetics on the carpet? Nothing ruins your pre-party buzz like the sight of your most expensive powder or favourite lipstick smushed into a rug. Don’t panic! We have all the tips and tricks you need to remove make-up from carpet before it causes a permanent stain!

How to Remove Eyeshadow or Bronzer From Carpet

Nothing breaks our heart like watching our favourite pallet fall facedown on a carpet, especially when broken flakes fall out. Here’s how to remove make-up from carpet when it’s in a powdered form:

  1. Vacuum the area thoroughly until all residue is removed. It’s important that you vacuum up all residue before treating the stain.
  2. Apply 1001 Carpet Stain Remover and wait for up to 5 minutes.
  3. Gently massage the product into the stained area.
  4. Remove excess liquid with a dry cloth.
  5. Leave the area to dry, then vacuum.

How to Remove Mascara

Mascara is a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it issue if you follow these steps. These instructions also work for liquid eyeliner if you happen to spill!

  2. Put a little white spirit on a soft cloth and dab the affected area.
  3. Apply 1001 Carpet Stain Remover and wait for a maximum of 5 minutes.
  4. Massage the product into the stained area, gently wiping from outside to centre.
  5. Remove excess liquid with a dry cloth.
  6. Leave the area to dry, then vacuum.

How to Remove Fake Tan from Carpet

If you were attempting a subtle ‘oh no, I haven’t been travelling—this is a natural glow’ look for your online party, we have bad news. The stress on your face as you try to ignore the bit you’ve spilt on the carpet will seriously ruin the look. But we have the remedy!

  1. Remove any remaining tanner using a blunt knife. Do not rub or wipe.
  2. Mix a solution of one part 1001 Shampoo, 6 parts water.
  3. Dip a soft bristle brush in the solution and work it into the stained area, gently wiping from outside to centre to prevent spreading,
  4. Keep blotting with kitchen towel as the tanner is transferred out of the carpet.
  5. Remove excess liquid with a dry cloth.
  6. Leave the area to dry, then vacuum.
  7. Finish with a spray of 1001 Carpet Fresh Frosted Winter Berries to leave the room smelling fresh and festive!
